Style Me Saturday: 21st Birthday

A reader wrote me asking for help finding the perfect 21st birthday dress. Here is her email:

"I am turning 21 in May and, naturally, I am shopping for the perfect birthday dress 5 months in advance (haha typical me). I will be in Australia for my birthday so I'm looking for something simple that doesn't look like I'm trying to hard but also something cute. I love bright colors- coral, yellow, lime green, turquoise, fuchsia, etc. I have found a couple styles that I like but it seems like they're all super expensive and I don't want to break the bank for one night. I love the simpleness of a silk/rayon/polyester/satin tank dress...loose, short, and fun. But every dress I find in that style is either cotton (more of a beach coverup) or really expensive. I've done my research, browsing Forever21 and LuLus practically hourly for new additions to their websites. I also love ASOS.com dresses because they're very unique, however, buying internationally scares me. If you have any suggestions that you have come across that you think would fit what I'm looking for, I would appreciate it so much!"

I found several options that might work for a birthday celebration, here are some of the options that I sent this reader...

Yumi Kim Elena Dress ($78 on sale) - this was the favorite out of all the dresses I sent her, and it also comes in other colors like purple, blue, and turquoise.

Silence and Noise Silk Surplice Dress - $78

Forever 21 Silk Bow Dress - $32.80

Banana Republic Solid Silk Tie Neck Dress - $110

Forever 21 Bow Front Silk Dress - $29.80

Here are a few more alternative options:

I recommend the silk bow dress because I own it and am obsessed with it, heh. :)

Love Yumi Kim...great suggestion! I got that same style; but the blue top instead of the pink dress and it is the prettiest thing I own!
