Style Me Saturday: Sick of Sweats

Sorry for all the Style Me Saturday posts today, but I'm so behind and wanted to get these answered as soon as possible. If you've emailed me and I haven't gotten back to you yet - I'm working on it! :) Thanks for your patience.

Reader Alyssa from the blog Nothin' but a Shirt On wrote me recently with the following dilemma:

"I've been kind of stuck in a rut lately..Ive been sick for a looooooong time and I've kinda just started wearing sweats all the time. I'm losing my fashionista status...can you help me find some cool affordable outfits? I love boho style stuff with a pick of prep (Nicole Richie, Vanessa Hudgens, and Lauren Conrad are my fave celebs for style)."

I definitely know how Alyssa feels, as I've been dealing with some health issues of my own lately and honestly it's just easier to be comfortable! However, as you're feeling better (or have to go out in public), it's time to transition out of the sweats. Taking her celebrity style inspirations into account, I came up with a bunch of options for Alyssa to ease back into her fashionista lifestyle without giving up too much in terms of comfort. All of these items are easy to wear, and although maybe not AS comfortable as sweatpants, they will make the transition a little easier. Click on any of the photos below to get more information/purchase.

This first look is inspired by a combination of Vanessa Hudgens and Nicole Richie with flowing bohemian style tops, denim leggings (more comfortable than regular skinny jeans), and the option of sandals or slouchy ankle boots (I threw in a heel for variety).

Next are some more denim leggings/floaty top options - although these reminded me a little more of Lauren Conrad's California casual style. Any of these tops would look great with some nude/gold flats or wedges, or even a pair of basic flip flops.

I don't know about you, but I think the next best (and easiest) thing to wearing sweatpants is a super soft and comfortable jersey maxi dress (inspired by Nicole Richie's easy style). Throw any of these dresses on with some sandals and you've got an easy, breezy outfit that makes you feel like you put a little more effort in (add a layered necklace to dress it up a bit).

If you love the dress idea but want something a little shorter, I could see Vanessa Hudgens sporting any of these options below.

A romper is another great way to feel put together while still feeling as comfy as you would be in a pair of pj's. Add some wedge sandals and a cardigan and you're ready to face the world!

And finally, the event that we all dread when we aren't feeling our best always comes up and it's nice to have some pretty dresses in your closet that you can throw on in a pinch. All of these are more Lauren Conrad inspired, and I threw in a blazer which would look great over any of the dresses featured.

So there you have it, several looks to get you off the couch and out of those sweats! Do you have any style suggestions for Alyssa? If so, share in the comments below!

Love the last set! Maybe I need to check out Lauren Conrad's style.

My advice would be to shop your own closet! Whenever I hit a rut I go through things to see what I have already and purge purge purge before shopping!

Thanks everyone!

Budget Babe - Thanks, I'm feeling a bit better now but just got word last week from the dr. that this isn't something that's going to go away forever. :( I'm sure you still look cute, even if you're in a rut! Glad I could give you some inspiration though. :)
