Style Me Saturday: 9 to 5

Reader Hanna wrote me an email that said the following...

"I’m a 41-year-old mother of two that is going back to work after 8 years (stopped working when my first son was born). I have been a stay-at-home mom and tried to stay stylish on a budget (thanks to your wisdom). I wanted to know if you can give me some ideas on a few key pieces that I should purchase to make my wardrobe transition from the casual look to office."

I came up with several looks for Hanna, but first my list of key pieces she should have to transition her wardrobe are:

Black pants (whatever style you prefer)
Button down shirt (whatever color you prefer)
Blazer (black or white)
Pencil Skirt (either patterned or plain, whichever will be more versatile in your wardrobe)
Classic closed toe pumps (unless your work is ok with open toe)
Wrap Dress

I realize every office environment is different, so some of these options might not work for your particular workplace. Hopefully though they will give you some ideas, and you can make modifications (such as different length pants, adding a blazer, etc) that suit your specific work needs/dress code. As always, click on any photo below for more information/to purchase.

If you're looking for more work friendly ideas, here are some I've featured on the blog that may be helpful in giving you ideas.
