Birthday Party Ideas Needed!

I don't usually post about random stuff like this, but I thought with all the readers that I have all over the world - who better to ask than you guys?! I need some ideas for a 30th birthday party (which will take place next month), and am at a total loss. If anyone has any suggestions, please comment below - or email me at lookforless@gmail.com. I would be forever grateful!

*I forgot to add this when I originally posted - the birthday girl is yours truly. My husband and family keep asking me for party ideas or what I want to do for my big 3-0 and I have no clue!

Have a fabulous weekend, and thanks in advance!

Is the party for a guy or a girl? What kind of stuff do they like?

My sister in law did 80's prom night (balloon arch and all) for her 30th. It was fun.

Ashley - it's for a girl (ME to be specific! Haha, I should have included that in the post). I like fashion (obviously), photography, Einstein (my pup), traveling...

I personally love black and white parties. All the food, drinks, directions are all black and white. Tons of fun.

Or you could focus everything around another color, like your favorite color.

What is your favorite place to travel to? You could have that as a theme. Like you could have food from that area of the world.

^Ashley, those are all great ideas!

My favorite place to travel to is (embarassingly) - VEGAS! Lol. But that might make a good party!!

i threw myself a 30th where i rented a house on cape cod and brought 10 friends for the weekend. there was much debauchery, beaching, grilling and then board games when it poured :P
happy planning!

Since it's the end of the 20's why not do a 1920's flapper theme party!

How fun! Themed parties are my favorite!! You can always pick a decade, movie, or color scheme. Or food even- serve Mesxican food/beer and have everyone wear sombreros. You could also have everyone dress up as their favorite holiday- my gf did this and dressed like a Christmas tree, there was a cupid, a leprechaun etc. You could also have a rubic cube party where everyone comes with one piece of clothing for every color on the cube. then you play a game like musical chairs but swap clothes. the person who gets all one color first wins (obvi people wear suitable attire underneath). You could do a pirates/wench, golf pros/tennis hoes, vampires, or a pairs party wherever everyone comes with someone else as a pair (fork/spoon, salt/pepper, romeo/juliet, mickey/minnie). I have TONS of ideas, so let me know if you need more suggestions!

for my {"13 going on 30"} 30th, my husband and I rented out a roller rink and had an 80's roller derby. of course a 70's roller disco would probably be more suitable now considering all 80's is back in style but it was really fun. Also ...at the end when we did the hokey poky, I was in the middle and the husband rolled in on one knee and proposed ...it was fantastic! ;)

Since you can't decide on a theme, how about make it a smorgasbord!! Something like... an international festival? You could word it cuter like "30 Countries for 30 Years" and try to find foods/drinks/songs/pictures/decorations/hats/etc. from 30 countries! Margaritas, White Russians, Cosmos, Mai Tais, beer, ouzo, fried rice, shish kabobs, tacos, burgers, sushi, etc etc etc! You could pull it all together by having the presentation of the food/drink small "bites". That way it's not food/drink ADD overload. I would TOTALLY do that. Hope you find some inspiration! -Meg at oisme.blogspot.com

I think an 80's party would be awesome---costumes and all. I love parties!

Jen, for my 30th birthday party I want to have a roaring twenties party. I want to celebrate everything I did in my twenties and while welcoming my thirties. I am thinking something very Great Gatsby-esque. And maybe have pictures of me in my twenties around, and have games like 20 questions about Me. Just a silly idea I have floating in my head.

One of the best birthday parties I ever threw for a friend was at a local minor-league baseball game. We got a group rate on tickets, they put a message up on the big screen, and after the game we all got to go down on the field where they took pictures of us. It was a lot of fun!

I love planning parties-
For my 30th I did an all white party, it was perfect.
For my husbands I did a karaoke night.
For a recent one I attended my friend held a 16th birthday party theme. She did everyhing like it was back in the 80s. The puffy peach dress, the music, the hairdos, it was a lot of fun.

A 30th is the PERFECT opportunity for a murder mystery! You can even have a game written from scratch with all of your guests' secret motives and inside jokes integrated. Good luck with the planning - it's a lot of work but so worth it in the end.
