This Burberry Prorsum striped coat retails for $2495 at Nordstrom.



This Forever 21 striped coat varies some, mainly in the color but a bit in the shape, making it more of an inspired by look. However, I still think it's a great alternative if you're on a tight budget. This coat retails for $42.80 and you can click on the image below to purchase.

Burberry's shearling lined platform booties retail for $1095 at Saks Fifth Avenue.


I realize these boots from Topshop aren't exact, but they definitely reminded me of the Burberry version for a lot less cash. If you want to purchase these inspired by boots, they retail for $190 and you can click on the photo below for more information.

Runway Look 4 Less: Burberry Prorsum

I'm assuming you all watch The Rachel Zoe Project, or at the very least get her newsletter, and if not...you may have missed out on the shearling and military goodness that is Burberry Prorsum's fall RTW collection. A real budget buster, the jacket featured below retails for a whopping $3595.


I took inspiration from the Burberry runway look above to come up with the following more affordable ensemble. To start, you'll need a shearling jacket like this version from Fred Flare for $64. Click on the photo below if you're interested in purchasing.


For the dress, I wasn't able to find a dress exactly like the Burberry one featured, but I think this option from Max Studio (on sale for $98) is a good substitute.


And finally, some over the top thigh high boots to complete the look...this pair retails for $57.95 and you can click on the photo to purchase or for more info.

Burberry Tiered Hem Trench Coat *Updated - 8/30/10*

Actress Cobie Smulders wore this tiered Burberry trench coat on two different episodes of How I Met Your Mother this season (Duel Citizenship and Last Cigarette Ever). (Photo credit) This trench seems to be sold out online but retailed for $1770 according to Polyvore.

If you want a similar trench for a lot less cash (although not super budget friendly, it will save you about $1582!!), check out this very similar version from Anthropologie. For Men: Burberry Prorsum Super Lightweight Cockled Cashmere Twisted Cardigan

Reader Mark had a suggestion that I try and do more "high end" looks for men, and so I'm going to try it out and see how it goes! After doing the men's look for less for a month or so, I realize that I don't have as much of a knack for finding them as compared to the women's. I plan on trying this new suggestion for awhile, and then re-evaluating whether or not to keep doing the men's feature. Thanks again to Mark for the feedback!
