My Favorite Things 2009

Today I'm going to be kicking off a series of "Favorite Things" here on The Look 4 Less, starting with my own top 10. Over the next week there will be a favorite things post every day at noon CST where some fabulous bloggers' favorite things will be featured. I hope you enjoy getting to know me, as well as the other bloggers better!

1. My Yorkie Einstein

My husband and I don't have children, so Einstein is pretty much our baby and we spoil him terribly. He's only 4 lbs which makes him incredibly portable, and I'm lucky enough to be able to bring him to work with me every day. This little guy has quite the personality and even people who swear they don't like little dogs soon become members of the Einstein Fan Club after spending about 2 seconds with him.

2. Vosges Naga Exotic Candy Bar

I tried this delectable chocolate bar while we were in Chicago this past summer and fell in love. Lucky for me, they have an online store so I don't have to drive the 3 1/2 hours to one of their retail locations (but trust me, I would make the drive if necessary - they're THAT good). The combination of sweet curry, coconut, and milk chocolate is heaven in my mouth!

3. J Crew Tissue Boyfriend V-Neck Tee

I own this shirt in three colors and have four more on my Christmas list. I am obsessed with v-neck tees (so much more flattering on me than a crewneck!) and I think I finally found the perfect one in this J Crew version. I love the soft fabric and slouchy fit, but make sure you size down (or try on in store if you can) because they do tend to run a little big.

4. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

Before I bought this stuff, my eyeshadow would pretty much melt away by mid day. This primer not only makes my eye makeup last until I wash it off at night, it also seems to make the eyeshadow seem more vibrant/deeper in color. Love this stuff.

5. Philosophy Purity Made Simple and Origins "A Perfect World" Moisturizer

I know I'm kind of cheating as this is really two things, but oh well! These two products absolutely changed my skin and I definitely could not live without them. Philosophy's cleanser is super gentle and never dries out my skin, yet does a great job in making my skin feel clean and refreshed. Origin's Perfect World moisturizer is one of the only moisturizers I've found that hydrates without making my skin feel greasy. I also love that it includes white tea, which according to the Origins site is a great antioxidant.

6. Flats

Being 5'10" hasn't stopped me from wearing heels, but on an average day heels just aren't practical for me. So what's a girl to do? Stock up on tons of cute flats! I received the Tory Burch Revas as a gift and those get the most wear out of all the shoes in my closet, but I'm always on the lookout for more cute flats to add to my collection. Here are some that I'm currently lusting after...

Hoping someone will make a look for less of these Miu Miu's soon...

Love the pearl and rhinestone detailing on these Kelsie Dagger flats...

The zippered ruffle on these Jeffrey Campbell flats add some interest to an otherwise basic shoe...

These neutral Lanvin flats would be super versatile (and totally out of my price range!)...

Love the print on these J Crew flats, I have a similar pair that I bought at Target a couple of years ago.

7. Glee: The Music, Volume 1 and Glee: The Music, Volume 2

The music from Glee might possibly be the one thing that could make a bad day better. I love the show (which is featured as an upcoming favorite thing from one of my guest bloggers!) but one of the things that makes me love the show so much is the incredible music. In fact, I think I like the Glee versions better than some of the originals! Some of my favorites are "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Alone" which can be found on Volume 1, as well as "Proud Mary" and "Smile (Lily Allen cover)" on Volume 2. If you haven't already clicked over to buy them for yourself or someone else (or at least added them to your holiday wishlist), what are you waiting for?

8. Dresses

I own wayyy too many dresses and hardly ever have an occasion to wear them, but I still love shopping for the darn things. This summery Trina Turk dress was a great investment a couple of years ago as I've worn it to everything from to Jersey Boys in Chicago to a wedding rehearsal. Here are a few more dresses that I have my eye on...

This dress from Urban Outfitters looks pretty basic until you see the cut out back detail (and it has pockets!!)...

Love the color of this dress by Sunner (maybe it will go on sale?)...

Love the ruffles on this silk Amanda Uprichard dress...

Just gorgeous...

9. Lost

As fans of Lost know, this show will be starting it's final season on February 2nd, 2010 on ABC. Although I will be sad to see this show end, I'm incredibly curious as to how they plan on wrapping everything up. This show has to be one of the weirdest shows ever (well honestly, Fringe probably takes that title, but still - Lost is pretty weird), yet strangely addicting. I can't wait for February to see what the island has in store for Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and all the rest of the stranded passengers of Oceanic Flight 815.

10. Stella by Stella McCartney perfume

I bought this perfume when we went on our honeymoon, so it could be that I'm partial to it just because of the memories. In any case, I love this scent and at only $17 for the roll-on (which has lasted me quite awhile) it's both budget friendly and the perfect travel size. I'm not usually a fan of floral scents but for some reason this blend of rose, peony flower, mandarin, and amber appeals to my senses!

I had a lot of fun sharing some of my favorite things with you guys and I hope you enjoy the rest of the favorites that will be featured this week!

SLSO - I did see that they were on sale but they're sold out of the pretty wine color online! For some reason the second link you posted takes me to the same shoe?

Abigail - Thanks! I hope you like them!

Mrs. Dew - :)

Amber - Glad you liked my picks! I know what you mean, I've been trying not to buy anything else for myself before Christmas but that Anthro dress is calling my name.

As I mentioned before, your Einstein is ADORABLE. A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E.

I also have 2 male yorkies and they are just the most darling breed ever. And? I used to have a cat named Einstein Friday Fitzgerald - she was the most awesome cat. Clearly, your choice in names rocks.

Btw, did you see Juicy's leopard Doggie coat...was it here that I saw that? Don't you think Einstein *needs* that??? :)

My mistake, I posted the same link twice - sorry! Here is the potential MiuMiu look for less:

Hey, is that you with Einstein? You're BEAUTIFUL! I've never seen a picture of you, eek.

Oh, and Einstein is beautiful too. ;)

I've been loving those purple MiuMiu's forever- so sad when I found them on sale but sold out. *sighs*

J @ The Look 4 Less said...

Coley - Thank you!

Ann - Yes, Yorkies are the best!! I wish I could get another one but truly Einstein is so spoiled I think he would be so upset if I did.

I didn't post about that leopard dog coat but I do remember seeing it on a blog (maybe Chloe's?). Einstein definitely needs that! Haha.

Emily - Thanks! Great find on the lookalikes.

anotherfishinthesea - Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was fun for me to share a little bit about myself as well!

Jaime - Thanks! I can't wait for Lost!

Chloe - Yep, that's me on my wedding day with the little stinker. Thank you so much *blushes*, that's so nice of you to say.

I know, I think I saw them on your blog (in the sidebar) and fell in love. I don't like the blue as much. :(
