Get the Look: Lovely Lace

One trend I'm excited about for spring is lace (you can see the genius Chloe's runway to realway post here) because I love wearing basic pieces with a feminine touch to them and (I feel) lace is the perfect way to do that. If done right, lace can be classy and sexy at the same time...if done wrong, well, it can be kind of trashy. So, I recommend if you decide to try out this trend, make sure to layer appropriately so no one's getting an X-rated peek (most of the items below have a bottom layer built in).

Lace was also spotted on the Spring 2010 RTW runways. The following pictures are from Valentino, Stella McCartney, and Chanel. (Photo credit)

Loving the lace? All of my picks below are under $100, allowing you to experiment with the trend for less (click on any photo below to purchase)!

Newport News Lace Sheath Dress - $39 (on sale)
I love the ladylike style of this dress, wear it with a great pair of heels!

Pins and Needles Strapless Lace Dress - $58
This cream strapless dress has just a hint of lace, for those who want to test drive the trend without feeling too exposed.

Eight Sixty Lace Tank Dress - $48 (on sale)
As I've mentioned before, I love a tank dress, and the lace print on the skirt of this one is so sweet.

Charlotte Russe Satin and Lace Shirt - $22.99
I think this shirt would look great paired with skinny jeans and heels.

Robbi and Nikki Lace Edged Silk Top - $91.99 (on sale)
This is one of the more expensive items but I love the pink top and the hint of black lace.

Anthropologie Point-De-Venise Tank - $68
Love. I just ordered this in grey recently, I think it will be very versatile!

Forever 21 Lace Screen Tee - $28
Not sure if you want to do the real thing? Try out this lace print!

Pins and Needles Lace Overlay Peplum Tank - $48
I think this top would look great under a fitted blazer.

Forever 21 Lace Ruffle Mesh Skirt - $29.80
Sweet, but a little sexy too.

Forever 21 Pretty in Lace Skirt - $24.80
I think this skirt looks great on the Forever 21 model, and would be pretty versatile in most wardrobes.

Kimchi Blue Open Back Cardigan - $48
This cardigan also comes in black or green, and the lacy back gives an interesting twist to your basic cardigan.

Spiegel Lace Handbag - $59
This bag has been featured on the blog before as an inspired by look for a lace Prada bag (see post here).

Pink Studio Margy Lace Ballet Flats - $62.99
I love these lace flats, they're perfect for those who only want to test out the trend.

Here are some more of my picks for under $100:

This lace top from Urban looks gorgeous. $42.

I ordered this top a couple days ago, it's clearly to be used as a layering piece (otherwise trashy), but underneath another top it could add a nice, subtle touch of lace. $24.

I also ordered this Kimchi Blue Lace Skimmer Flat. It's on sale for only $14.99, available in black or blue, and is really adorable.

Great picks, Jen! I grabbed that F21 tiered lace skirt a few weeks ago...I've used it in a multitude of Polyvore sets. Love it!
