Proenza Schouler PS1 Bag (Reader Request)

100% credit for this find goes to Celine at In Their Closet. Definitely check out that blog if you get a chance!

A reader recently requested I find an alternative to this beautiful Proenza Schouler Large Leather PS1 cross body bag retails for $1995 at Barneys.

Proenza Schouler at ShopStyle

The amazing Celine spotted this before I did, but I wanted to pass it along to my readers, specifically the one who wrote in asking for an alternative. This Asos leather twist satchel has it's differences, but it definitely resembles the Proenza version above. It can be yours for $109.91 and you can click here to purchase. I'm actually thinking of ordering this for myself, but I was wondering - do any USA girls have any experience ordering from Asos? Did you get charged a lot from customs? Please comment below and let me know, I'm very interested in getting more information. Thanks!

Hi! Love your blog! I've ordered from Asos.com many times, customs has never been a problem and the shipping is rather fast despite having to go through several checkpoints (I believe standard takes 1-2 weeks). I've also never been charged anything from customs (yet when I lived in the UK and had things from the U.S. shipped over I did have to pay a tax). While this makes returning things nearly impossible it definitely shouldn't stop you from trying them out. Good luck!

I too have been ordering from Asos for quite a while and customs have not been an issue and delivery is indeed pretty quick. A friend told me that once she had an issue with customs when she placed a larger order for over $300 value (when the package arrives you can always see the value on the outside for customs purposes). My recommendation would be to keep each order under $300 to avoid this issue. Otherwise it should be just fine!

I don't see the size anywhere, I can't tell if it is a briefcase or more of big purse. Anyone know?

Thanks everyone for the info!

Gutter - Just from how it looks on the model, it's more of a big purse. Click on the link to the Asos site and you can see the photo of it on the model there. Hope that helps!

Ive ordered and returned from ASOS. Very easy! only $6 shipping too. I would highly recommend them! Except do not order anything that is their own brand "ASOS." In the past I have ordered a jumper and a dress in that brand and the quality of both was so poor that I had to send them back. But I have another dress by a different brand that I ordered on ASOS.com and its great!

I completely disagree with sarah's comment about ASOS brand quality. I own at least 10 different tops and blazers by the brand and I couldn't be happier. I think the quality is great especially for the price. I'm sure there are certain items that leave lots to be desired especially when it comes to quality, but I personally had fantastic experiences with the brand.

I've made two orders from ASOS and had no problems, either. No need to worry about ordering internationally.. it's a legitimate site, and we're really lucky to have such low shipping to the U.S. considering the insane rates people over in Ireland and the UK are charged to order from American sites! Actually, I was living in Ireland for awhile and the shipping costs from ASOS were more to there than to the U.S.!

Hi, I love your blog and thanks for putting together all these more affordable suggestions!
I've ordered only once from Asos before and probably wouldn't order from them again although ALOT of their stuff is adorable. I didn't get charged a fee at customs, but did pay a hefty charge for return shipping fees at the post office and also my CC company charged a international fee for using my CC with a UK company. I like to "overorder" (not sure about size so I'd order in both S and M and return one) so it's just not practical for me to order from Asos. Other than that, shipping was super fast from Asos. Hope this helps! =)

Great find. I'm curious to hear about your experience if you go for it. I love the catwalk feature on their site and the newere, low $6 flat shipping. If they ever have what I want in stock, I'll order. That's the main thing that's been holding me back.

that bag is fantastic!

i ordered from asos once. a sweet little black jumper, which i love. the shipping is seriously not bad at all. in fact, it's totally cheap and super easy process.

good luck. i hope you end up snagging the bag because it's awesome.

I live in NYC and have ordered from ASOS without any problems, with customs or anything else. But yeah, the only downside is the delivery time - 10 days or so - but that seems typical of any international site (topshop, etc.)

Now back to this bag...I've been eyeing it, too! It's not very large.

To the commenter who asked about size: Check out the black version on the website, I think there's a picture of it on a model so you can see the scale.

I love the look of this bag and have been looking for something similar for going on a year! The website doesn't list dimensions and I want to use it as a laptop bag but want to make sure mine will fit. Can anyone post the dimensions?

Thanks!
